May 27 Iris Day Godinton House, Ashford


Iris Day is timed to celebrate the collection of the glamorous bearded iris, with over 200 different cultivars growing in the sunny south border of the walled garden. There are a further 12 acres of gardens to explore, and


refreshments will be available. Open 2-5 pm

Diamond Jubilee 1950s Weekend Leeds Castle, Maidstone


Rule Britannia! Celebrate all things British from the coronation year in 1953, at a former royal palace. Enjoy the patriotic atmosphere all weekend with cream teas, 1950s cars and steam engines. Bring a picnic and watch the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant and flotilla at high water on Sunday afternoon, broadcast from London on a big screen. For younger visitors there will be patriotic crafts activities.


June 3 Jubilee Street Party Civic Way, Mount Pleasant, Tunbridge Wells


Tunbridge Wells Museum & Art Gallery will be celebrating the Diamond Jubilee with a big street party in Civic Way. Drawing inspiration from street parties of the past, this will be an enjoyable family event with food, games, art and craft and entertainment throughout the day.


June 4–5 Jubilee Celebrations, Kent Life, Sandling


The Diamond Jubilee will be celebrated at Kent Life with a 1952-style street party. Come and join in the celebrations with a wide range of traditional fete activities and stalls for the whole family to enjoy.


June 15-17 Fuse Medway Festival


Fuse Medway Festival combines cutting edge performances with outdoor community events, attracting thousands of visitors each year. The 2012 event promises to bring even more colourful sights and sounds to Medway’s open spaces with free arts events, from vibrant street theatre to world- class dance and circus acts.


June 21 Bat Walk Lullingstone Country Park, Eynsford


Come and join the park staff and members of the Kent Bat Group to discover and learn about these elusive creatures. You will also be going within the grounds of Lullingstone Castle to search for Daubenton bats that frequent the lake area. Please wear suitable shoes and clothing. 8pm-10pm, £5 per person.


June 23-24 Medieval Knight School Leeds Castle, Nr Maidstone


A chance for children to try on replica medieval armour, helmets, breastplates, chainmail and gauntlets. Have a lesson in medieval swordsmanship and participate in a fun re-creation of the Battle of Agincourt.
