Places to visit Penshurst Place and Gardens


Eggciting crafty activities will take place between March 31 and April 15 (noon – 4pm) including a trail around the gardens. On Bank Holiday Sunday April 8 to 9, join the old man of the woods and his companion as they regale you with tales of Easter. Try your hand at egg rolling and traditional egg and spoon race. Three showings per day at 2pm, 2.45pm and 3.30pm. Penshurst Place has something to offer all the family with


the recreation of historic events, children’s storytelling and crafts and nearly seven centuries of history.

Biddenden Vineyards Biddenden Vineyards will be hosting


its annual Easter Bunny Hunt on Easter Sunday April 8 between 11am and 4pm. This is a chance for children to explore the vineyard, chasing clues with a chocolate reward at the end. Adults can enter our ‘Star Trek’, answering questions on celebrities, with the chance to win a bottle of Biddenden Cider or Apple Juice. The vineyard will also be open throughout the whole of


the Easter weekend, with free admission & tastings of the award winning wines, ciders & juices. The shop also has a new local cheese counter.

Bedgebury National Pinetum & Forest


Bedgebury's National Pinetum is host to the world’s finest collection of conifers and offers


a haven of peace set in beautiful parkland with lakes, streams, rolling hills and wide avenues. For the more adventurous the forest activities include; cycling, mountain biking, horse riding, adventure play and orienteering for people of all ages and abilities.


Bring the children along to the Drop in Easter Egg Hunt


10.30am to 3pm April 3 to 5. Families can follow a self- guiding Easter egg trail leading back to the classroom, before making an Easter card to take home. Cost £3 per child including a sweet treat. Booking not required but children must be accompanied by an adult.

Kent & East Sussex Railway


Visitors on March 31 can see Fifi Forget-me-Not and her best friend Bumble at the railway for the new Rock with the Tots high energy sing-along stage show. Two 25-minute steam train trips are included with tickets. A special family Easter ticket is also on offer between April 2 and 5 and again between April 10 and 13. Families can travel for £35 instead of £42. Grandparents are also in for


a treat during Grandparents Weekend on April 14 and 15 when they can travel free with every child who purchases a rover ticket. The day can be combined with a visit to The Mill Toy & Pedal Car Museum opposite Northiam Station or Bodiam Castle, which is a short walk from Bodiam station. Admission discounts apply at both attractions for anyone holding a valid Kent & East Sussex Railway ticket.
