Dim the lights, draw the shades and settle in for the latest Blu-ray release in High-Definition. A home theatre luxury? Not necessarily. Today, aircraft cabins of all sizes are being outfitted and controlled by state-of-the-art gadgets. Attention to detail provides maximum convenience and comfort, and customisation options can create an interior like no other in the world. These advanced cabins make flying a joy. Cabin Management Systems allow owners and passengers of private and corporate aircraft to manage entertainment and

information with the touch of a button. The latest apps provide user interfaces that are familiar to anyone who has operated a tablet device. Upwash, downwash,

reading and table lights can

be switched, dimmed or even coloured with programmed slider controls. Attendants can be signalled and galley appliances managed from the passenger seating area. Multi-channel music and movie players provide hours and hours of entertainment. Massive memory cards allow users to upload and store hours of music, movies, television programmes and pictures. Music lovers can program their systems to broadcast different genres simultaneously throughout the cabin. Worldwide moving map technology provides real-time flight information including position, altitude, destination, speed, and time en-route. Data pages are available in multiple languages and in metric or standard units. Users can access NASA satellite imagery with 1,000,000+ global cities and

points of interest. All of this is possible with iPad and Android tablets,

browser-based tools, or completely customised touchscreen solutions. A wide variety of products are available to integrate aircraft cabin electronics with users’ carry-on media. Specialised software transforms the device into a comprehensive remote that can control most, if not all, of the systems within an aircraft cabin. Custom mounts and software turn tablets into personal aircraft information and entertainment displays. Signals pass through specialised cabling, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connections. Today’s more nimble CMS providers work with VIP clients

to create the perfect custom interface with touchscreens and OLED buttons built into the aircraft cabin. Updated LCD monitors can be retrofitted into existing tight spaces. An ever- increasing array of trim options allows these devices to integrate beautifully into any existing décor, letting passengers express their unique tastes. VIPs enjoy a seamless inflight experience with the most up-to-date technology. High-Definition is the focus of the modern cabin management system. HD has already received widespread adoption in the consumer video markets. Digital cinemas, consumer displays, tablet computers, and even cell phones all have HD video. It is the standard in home theatres and it is quickly becoming so in today’s cabin electronics platforms. Viewers can take advantage of HD movies in full 1080p resolution with LED backlit monitors. Aircraft rated Blu-ray, cameras, movie jukeboxes, DVD/CD/MP3 players and other components complete the entertainment suite. Advanced HD technology is at the heart of today’s cabin management system. The pursuit of new and better CMS solutions continues to provide a more robust and satisfying experience for VIP users of private aircraft.
