Thank you to everyone who has made the last 60 years a success. As 2012 starts, the new directors are being elected on January 8 and gear- ing up for the show season. Some of the plans for 2012 include building our membership, get- ting more approved shows, and of course, the return of EXTRAVAGANZA.
The only way to make Extravaganza a go is to secure our sponsors, which we are working on. If you would like to sponsor Extravaganza, please contact one of the directors and we will give you all the details. Thank you to our spon- sors for 2011, we appreciate your support. The Rider

Province of Ontario confirms Town of Erin can continue relationship with the Hills of Headwaters Tourism Association
Following discussions with officials from the Ontario Ministry of Tourism & Culture, the Hills of Headwaters Tourism Association has con- firmed that the province does NOT require the Town of Erin to make a choice in regards to its alignment as a result of changes in the provincial tourism strategy.
One day membership $5 (does not qualify for year end awards. Valid only on date purchased.)
In December 2009, the Province of Ontario released Discovering Ontario: A Report on the Future of Tourism. This report called for the divi- sion of the province into 13 regional tourism zones for the purposes of growing tourism capaci- ty in the province. As a result of this report, the Town of Erin was geographically aligned within the boundaries of Regional Tourism Organization #4, while the rest of the Hills of Headwaters region (Dufferin County and the Town of Cale- don) was geographically aligned within the boundaries of Regional Tourism Organization #6. When these new Regional Tourism Organi- zations were forming, the Hills of Headwaters Tourism Association requested that Regional Tourism Organization #6 (which also includes York Region and Durham Region) recognize the tourism region known as the Hills of Headwaters as the official tourism zone for our region and the third destination marketing partner in the RTO#6 partnership. As such, the tourism brand integrity of the Hills of Headwaters would continue to be recognized, and the work done to support this
brand over the past 15 years could be maintained. The cross-municipality structure of the Hills of Headwaters has always been based on the needs of the visitor (who do not recognize munici- pal boundaries); travel patterns of visitors to the region (south to north); and tourism product syn- ergies that support the needs of the visitor. The recent confirmation from the Ontario Ministry of Tourism & Culture would allow the Town of Erin to continue their very successful relationship with the Hills of Headwaters Tourism Association to provide tourism services to support their economic development initiatives, while still being located geographically in the jurisdiction of RTO4. This would allow to the Town of Erin to continue to work with the Hills of Headwaters Tourism Association to develop superior tourism product, collaborate on tourism events and mar- keting, and support the needs of the visitors to our larger geographic region. It would also support the collaboration between the Town of Erin and the Hills of Headwaters Tourism Association to ensure the growth and sustainability of the Town’s tourism businesses and operators, and support economic the vibrancy of our rural com- munities.
