52/ JANUARY 2012 THE RIDER REAL ESTATE: By Teri Davidson
The Christmas tree is up, my son is home from university for the Christmas holiday and most of the Christmas gifts are wrapped. I can see out through the window across the rainy sky to my new barn and arena. Lots of plans for 2012 running through my head.
The market has been surprisingly busy the last couple of weeks. Most of my farm listings and all my city listings have sold. Even the ones I’ve had

sitting for some time. I’m feeling optimistic that the year ahead is going to be a very busy one.
For those of you who follow my column I have reduced my horse herd by nine horses! Once I started adver- tising and looking for the perfect home I had lots of responses. Our most wonderful yearlings, Poppy who is now Piper and Black Willie who is now Cosmos have found won- derful young riders to cherish and love them while working with them to become terrific mounts. We stopped by on the weekend to visit Piper in her new home and she looks amazing. Thanks Leah. Our barn/arena is almost com- plete and we have found wonderful people to share it with. No more room at the inn...which is also good news for us. We have been over- whelmed with the generosity of good friends helping out everyday using up all their spare time to help get things finished. Steve, Kathleen, Jessica, Andy and Scott
...couldn’t have done this without you.
Looking forward to my whole family coming and staying for the Christmas dinner and boxing day left- over party.
Looking forward but with bitter- sweetness to our youngest daughter heading out to her first year in univer- sity next September. Life changes. But change is a good
thing..the old saying “ A Change is as Good as A Rest” comes to mind.
our top saleslady for the year 2011. Lots of good things to look forward to and the new dynamics will give me a fresh approach and keep things interesting.
I am also going to start spending more time on
me...an exercise pro- gram ( groan), more time off ( yeah!) and looking after my health better than I do. I have a tendency to put myself last and that’s not a good thing. My brain and body become overloaded and it is so much healthier to give both a break so I can be more efficient with my work.
Best wishes to all and I wish you all a Merry Christmas and suc- cess in the New Year.
The year 2012 will bring many changes for our family and for my real estate career. I will be looking at a heavier home work schedule as my horse chores and organization of barn duties becomes routine. I am plan- ning a new web site as my old provider which served me so well for 11 years has decided to move on and they have closed. My virtual tour company and I have parted ways and I am looking at a new exciting differ- ent marketing program there. I am hiring a new assistant as my previous girl has obtained her own real estate license now and I’m proud to say was
