Show season always seems so far away at this time of year. Our equine partners are wearing their winter woolies, the snow is deep and the thermometer seems stuck well below freezing. But not to worry – the EOQHA board of directors is hard at work planning for the upcoming show season and as usual, there will be a full slate of great shows and fun activities.

So, throw another log on the fire and get planning your 2012 show season. It will be here before you know it!

Sincerely,

The EOQHA Board of Directors ---------------

Area 3 News

Continued from Page 22 SUMMERAMA

Area 3 and Mark Harrell Horse Shows have applied with AQHA for a special permit to make the Summerama show into a 5 day circuit. Day 1 & 2 would be a regular split combined format - minus the halter classes. The 3rd day would be halter classes only JUDGED BY ALL 4 JUDGES, plus some special event classes and fun. The 4th and 5th days would be a regular split combined show minus the halter classes. This for- mat change would allow for halter to only be shown once to all judges and open the schedule up to include more special event classes and fun activities.

Payback at Summerama. Area 3 is pleased to be able to offer exhibitors a chance to win prize money at the largest show circuit in Ontario! With generous donations from additional sponsors Area 3 will be pleased to increase the payback amounts accordingly. If you would like to get involved, please contact Jessica Mosley - Cairncross at mosleyjessica@hotmail.com • $1000 Open Trail - sponsored by Turtle Springs Farm

• $250 Novice Youth Showmanship • $250 Novice Amateur Showmanship - sponsored in memory of Jim McRae by JMQH customers

Should we get approval for this format we will be looking for volunteers and ideas on how to maximize the additional time. Suggestions have already been made for a bus trip to Niagara Falls, Golf tours, CN Tower/Toronto tour as well as having an exhibitor dinner at the grounds. This could be a great opportunity to increase the num- bers at the show as well as show some hospitality to our exhibitors from far away. We are looking forward to hearing your ideas!
