President’s Message


Welcome to 2012. I hope you and your’s had a wonderful Christmas season, and are stay- ing warm!


We are starting off our year with a new Membership Secretary, Anne Pearse, as Mary Jo MacDonnell is stepping down after four years in the role. I would like to thank her for her years of dedicated service, and welcome Anne. Also worth noting is that the O.B.B.O. now has its own website, with regular updates and information, and it can be accessed at www.obbofuturity.ca.


Our Annual General Meeting is on Sunday February 12th at the Holiday Inn, Scottsdale Road in Guelph, and Reining Canada would like to once again join us that day to present their own AGM. The Reining Canada Annual Gener- al Meeting will take place at 11 a.m., with the ORHA AGM commencing at 1 p.m. All the best to each of you for 2012 and hope to see you February 12th.

Resolved that all acts and proceedings of the Directors and Officers of the Corporation since the date of the last annual meeting of the Members of the Corporation, as such acts and proceedings are set out or referred to in the minute book are hereby ratified, approved and confirmed.

Appointment of Auditors: Motion to appoint auditors for 2011:


Loris Epis and Resting Whiz earned Reserve Champion in Level 1 and 2 at the OKC Futurity with a score of 220!! And Gotta Mag- num Dream, also owned by John and Sharon Fletcher, was 4th in Level 1 and 5th in Level 2,

Ontario Equestrian Federation Membership


Many of our members have an O.E.F. membership, to take advantage of the many benefits that offers, but may not be aware that the O.R.H.A. receives funding through the Sports Award Program, which is based on a number of factors that includes the number of our members who also belong to the O.E.F. Please ensure your O.E.F. number is entered on your 2012 O.R.H A. mem- bership form, in order to ensure we get the maximum available award.


For 2011, the O.R.H.A. received a generous cheque in the amount of $1,996 from the O.E.F., which was accepted by O.R.H.A. Director, Tom Cudahy, at the annual awards night.

Miller Bernstein and Partners are hereby appointed Accountants of the Association until the next annual general election, or, until their successor is appointed, at a remuneration to be fixed by the directors, the Board of Directors being hereby authorized and empowered to fix such remuneration. Whereas the membership may consent to exempt the Association from the audit requirements of the Corporations Act, be it resolved that the membership do hereby consent to exempt the association from the audit requirements of the Corporations Act for the fiscal period January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2011.
