2011 is over, and 2012 has arrived! Here’s to a wonderful 2012 show season for everyone. The year 2011 was full of ups and downs. One of our big ups was in the form of Caleb Clingen becoming Canada’s second World Champion. He is now the 2-D Youth World Champion! Our congratulations go to him and we send him our very best wishes for a great 2012. One of the downs of this year happened at the very end of our year, December 28, 2011. It was the death of one of the greatest barrel horses in the world, known as Hotshot. His registered name was Nate Shilabar and he carried Janet Stover at many rodeo championships, and both Tanya and Tyrney Steinhoff to numerous Regional, and World Championships. Our condo- lences go out to the Steinhoff family on the loss of that great horse.
We have great news for this year, regarding the Youth Worlds. This year they are moving to the showgrounds at Perry Georgia! Confirmed dates for that great show are July 22-28 2012. Hopefully everyone will be able to attend this year. NBHA home office is also very pleased to announce that this years Open Worlds will have the added money increased to $50,000! That is wonderful and once again we hope that everyone will attend. To help with this, the home office has also announced that they have removed the requirements that a contestant must have been a member for a year in order to use a transferred wildcard! This is great news for everyone. NBHA Canada is pleased to announce that there will be a few new shows this year. We have already got some in District 1 and the other districts are talking with some fairs and private farms about new dates. We certainly are always looking for new venues for our members, so if you have a fair, or wish to put on a show please get in touch with your district director, or the NBHA office at
nbhacanada@live.ca. We try to keep our website up to date with shows, both ten- tative and confirmed, so please check out the NBHA for all your up to date shows, and infor- mation. If you have any horses, trailers, tack etc for sale, remember we have the Classified section under the membership tab. You can check out that page if you are also interested in buying. If you wish to send us an ad, please send it to nbha-
canada@live.ca also. We will be re-vamping our sponsorship package for the upcoming season also. Remember that any sponsorships you get, also gives back a portion to you to use at any show you wish. We will be offering new benefits for the sponsor also. Keep a lookout for this new package, as we will be having our annual direc- tors meeting soon, and will be working on all that. If you have anything you would like to have us discuss, or anything you may want to see added to the NBHA schedules, please get in touch with one of us to have it added to the agen- da.

NBHA is always looking for people who would like to help out. If you would like to par- ticipate, as a fund raiser, sponsorship director, points keeper or membership director we would welcome you to our program. Of course we are always looking for people to help out a shows, so if you aren’t busy, and can offer a little time at any show, be it barrel setter, working the gate, or even to spell off the announcer for a few minutes so they can get something to eat it would be a great help. We are really excited for this coming year, we have many new things planned, and we hope to see you all there!
