Drama Scholarship At the discretion of the Drama Department, pupils in Year 8 are invited to apply for the Drama Scholarship for entry to the Senior School. Speech and Drama at DCPS is a lively, exciting and thriving discipline and the aim is to instil an appreciation and enjoyment of communication and performance and to maximise the potential of all pupils.

Art

The light and airy purpose built art and pottery rooms provide excellent facilities for painting, drawing and collage as well as ceramics, sculpture and textiles. The children take great pride in their work, which is exhibited throughout the school. Pupils regularly visit art galleries, both local and further afield, to study specific artists or to encourage the development of art appreciation. The Senior School also hosts exhibitions by famous artists to which pupils in the Prep School are invited. Year 6 - 8 pupils are eligible to take the 11+ and 13+ Art Scholarship, for which they prepare a portfolio of work.

Design Technology From Year 4 children are taught Design Technology by a specialist teacher in the state-of-the-art ‘design technology’ department. Pupils start working on simple projects such as moving wooden toys and move on to produce bespoke pieces of furniture. The pupils complete their initial designs on paper or with the aid the computer, their designs are then cut out using the class laser cutter, they then use a variety of wood, plastic, natural or man made cloth, or metal to construct their pieces. Year 6 pupils are eligible to take the 11+ Design Technology scholarship, for which they are prepared.
