PRODUCT INNOVATIONS Low-cost shower
tray range launched Shower specialist Lakes Bathrooms has launched a newcollection of lightweight, sheetmoulded composite (SMC) shower trays. The newentry-level range of trays is designed as a high volume, lower-cost option to traditional stone resin. As a new manufacturingmethodology inmost of the bathroommarket, yetwell proven in other industries, SMC uses fibre-reinforced polymers, mouldedwith heat and pressure. Thanks to the impregnated fibres, the resulting shower trays are strong and yet
lightweight - every designweighing in at less than the 25kg oneman lift target and around 50 percent lighter than stone resin counterparts. Integral to the design of the new SMC trays fromLakes Bathrooms is the pattern of strength forming ribs that criss- cross the back of the tray. The underside is hollowto reduce unnecessaryweight, yet the tray is robust thanks to this strengthening lattice. Aswith the ABS counterparts from Lakes Bathrooms, the newSMC trays are all lowprofile, 40mmin height. Designed to be easy to fit, the trays also comewith the option of an easy plumb kit for raised installations. For more information visit
