ONGOING RESEARCH Building on the findings and momentum of these discussions, Gensler is continuing the research through an international survey of 350+ students, seeking to quantify the factors that contribute to successful education environments. The six-part survey, which is currently underway, identifies a series of learning activities that students perform on- and off-campus. For each activity, the survey asks questions about current learning styles and environments, as well as the ideal environments


students envision. The results will help to build an even better picture of the combination of spatial and environmental characteristics that contribute to effective learning environments. Alongside this research,


Gensler is also pursuing a number of other targeted research projects. In the realm of education, these include an investigation into the characteristics of successful STEM(Science, Technology, Engineering andMathematics) education facilities. Other initiatives span Gensler’s 19 practice areas, investigating how innovative design and delivery solutions can create high-performance business, institutional and civic spaces; using design as a lens through which to address concerns facing the global community. 
