technology A range of laser-optimised structural profiles fromleading steel systems specialist Schueco Jansen greatly extends the architectural scope of the company's tried and tested VISS steel façade system. Developed in conjunction withMontanstahl AG, the new VISS Ixtra profiles use innovative connecting technology to provide the structural strength needed to allowmullions to run continuously overmore than one storey. In addition, they give architects greater overall scope for creativity by significantly widening the design possibilities open to them. VISS Ixtra has six basic profiles that can vary in width from50mmto 100mmand in depth from 30mmto 300mm, with amaximumlength of 15m. Shapes can be laser-cut into the profiles before welding to add visual interest and webs and flanges can be specified in a range of depths ranging from5mmto 30mm.
