The rapid development of Oman's hospitality sector is creating new meeting and event spaces ideal for corporate gatherings


MUSCAT


Muscat boasts a number of top quality meetings and events spaces, predominantly located in the city's hotels and resorts. The Crowne Plaza Muscat features a ballroom and four well-equipped meeting rooms, the largest of which can accommodate 500 people. The meetings and events facility can be accessed by a separate entrance directly from the hotel. A comprehensive array of technology includes multiple projectors, cable internet, stage lights and DVD players. The property can also host receptions for up to 1,500 people within the landscaped gardens. The Chedi Muscat offers boutique meetings and event spaces, including the Japanese Room, which can accommodate meetings for up to 30 delegates, boardroom or classroom style. Shangri-la's Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa boasts comprehensive meetings and events facilities, including the pillar-less Barr Al Jissah Ballroom that seats 700 guests banquet style, and a pre-function area that can accommodate up to 850 guests. The ballroom also features an outdoor terrace. Seven additional meeting rooms are located on site. The facility is equipped with the latest technology, including wired and wireless high-speed Internet access; slide, over-

head, LCD and direct projectors; and real-time translation systems. Shangri-La also offers its corporate clients access to its Signature Events service portfolio, which includes group online booking reservations, central credit administration, complimentary Wi-Fi access, on-site events management and technical support. Other events venues located onsite include the Omani heritage village and Al Midan amphitheatre that provides seating for 1,000. Al Bustan Palace, A Ritz-Carlton Hotel features 13 meeting rooms, an auditorium and ballroom. In total, the facilities provide 4,000 square metres of event space and capacity for up to 2,000 guests. The property's meetings facilities are equipped with the lat- est technology, including multiple projectors, Wi-Fi, stage lights, and microphones. Other features include a stunning atrium lounge, celebrity chef restaurant and the Seblat Al Bustan, a Bedouin-style village with tents and floor cushions set up in the gardens offering authentic cuisine and entertainment. The InterContinental Muscat features six meeting rooms, which are capable of accommodating up to 400 delegates theatre-style, 200 in a classroom configuration, 700 for receptions and 450 for banquets.
