for RV’ers. T e valley is a state park and located off Highway 15 [Exit 75], 55 miles northeast of Las Vegas. It is Nevada’s largest and oldest state park. On leaving Highway 15 you travel

Valley of the Gods is really a smaller version of Monument Valley. T e red sandstone rock formations provide incredible scenery and very picturesque towers of rock monuments. Navajo legend has it that the towering rocks/ sentinels are warriors turned into stone and appearing now as Gods. For Patricia and myself, we kept saying, “Oh My God, Oh My God!” Close to the Valley of the Gods are a


number of attractions. On Highway 261, the Moki Dugway Road with its hairpin turns winds up along the face of the Cedar Mesa. T e Muley Point Overlook at 6,425-ſt has a spectacular view. On returning, the gravel road quickly descends 1,200-ſt with a 10% grade over only 3 miles. T is is not a road for those with a weak stomach. Not far away, visit the Gooseneck State


Park and the switchback meandering San Juan River. Stop at the unique rock formation of Mexican Hat and learn the Indian legend of how a sleeping Mexican was turned into stone. Lastly, at the western entrance to the


valley, Claire and Gary Dorgan operate a B&B as well as serving as the unoffi cial caretakers of the valley. Claire provided us with a guided tour, explaining their house was the only private residence located on 360,000 acres of the valley. T eir B&B is a model environmentally-
