Thousands Attend First Ever Vanner Fair Held in Caledon

Caledon, ON – Spectacular fall colour may have been absent from the Caledon hills land- scape, but the colourful Gypsy Vanner horses more than made up for the absence of the “changing of the leaves” during the first ever North American “Vanner Fair” held at Deerfields Stables Country Inn, in Cale- don, on Saturday September 24th.

Thousands of visitors attended the spectacular event which showcased this beautiful horse in competition and later musically choreographed demonstrations, with many attendees experiencing an “up close and personal” rapport with these magical horses who are winning hearts and attracting new equestrian “converts” across North America.

Standing room only for every performance, the “Vanner mystique” was in full swing as these engaging horses “worked the audience” both in the com- petition ring and later when their proud owners allowed visi- tors to pet, feed, photograph and even sit astride these beautiful, yet docile horses.

The big winners of the day were Gypsy Elite Zorro N’Co ridden by Pam Litz from Ohio, USA, with reserve going to Vanner Manor’s Candy Queen, ridden by Shyla Cardy, of the

Welland/ St. Catharines area. N’Co Gypsy Vanner received the “Best in Fair” per- petual challenge trophy, a spe- cially commissioned bronze sculpture created by internation- al equine artist June Towill Brown and an original painting from renowned landscape artist and resident Cory Trepanier for which the foreground of the art piece will showcase “Gypsy Elite Zorro N’Co” Vanner Manor rider, Shyla Cardy, received a state of the art, Ger- man engineered saddle courtesy of Barefoot Saddles of Canada. Modelled after the world famous Gypsy horse exposition, “Appleby Fair” in the Lake Dis- trict of the UK, Vanner Fair symbolically closed with the big splash when all of the partici- pants frolicked with their saddle less Gypsy Vanner horses in the crystal spring fed lake of Deer- fields Stables County Inn.
