12/ OCTOBER/NOVEMBER 2011 THE RIDER

Ontario High School Rodeo Association

By: OHSRA Student Board

The Ontario High School Rodeo Association kicked off its 2011/2012 season with two great rodeos. Our first rodeo of the year was held at a new venue- the 157th Mitchell Fall Fair during the Labour Day weekend. The stands where packed, and the music was great. The crowd was loud as they cheered on the competi- tors, many of them being locals, as they raced their way across the timer line or until the 8 seconds were over. The week after the OHSRA held a rodeo at the Western Fair in London that went just as exciting!

We would like to welcome our new members that have come to join us this year, John Bowman, Bailey Donaldson, Jesse Kinsman, Cody

back to the short-go after 1,343 competitors competed throughout the week. 18 year old, Eric Dwyer was Ontario’s super star making it back in the short- go in steer wrestling! His time for the first go was 7.64 then a 5.71 in his second go qualifying him to the Short-go round! With hard competition Eric pulled a time of 8.16 placing him 15 over all in the stand- ings out of 125 steer wrestlers! Way to go Eric! Rebecca Riegling, our 2011/2012 OHSRA Queen, did a fantastic job competing in the queen contest and rep- resented all the competitors and the province of Ontario!
