Starring role for accounts A
new accounting system installed by a Birmingham-based financial solutions company is designed to ensure that Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London will neither a borrower nor a lender be. Sapphire Systems, based in
Brindleyplace, was chosen by Shakespeare's Globe to strengthen operational efficiency and meet advanced reporting requirements through its SAP Business One system. David Magness, head of finance at
Shakespeare's Globe, said: “Shakespeare's Globe is much more than just the theatre; there is also the exhibition, shop, support function and an education department that covers numerous different activities. The many facets to our business make the accounting quite complex, so a solution that could manage multiple divisions was required. "SAP Business One stood out thanks to multi-
dimensional analysis functionality. "Sapphire was already a
corporate partner and showed a great deal of interest in Shakespeare's Globe with a very professional approach. We really felt that the team that presented SAP Business One understood what we do and our exact requirements." The new system means that the
theatre is able to quickly run reports on daily box office takings as well as the amount spent on the various courses they run. Ian Caswell, managing director at
Sapphire Systems, added: "Sapphire has supported Shakespeare's Globe for some years now so I am particularly pleased to be
working with the team there. “With SAP Business One and iDocuments in place
they will have a cost effective solution that will facilitate operational efficiency now and well into the future too."
