Clitheroe Wine Society The Clitheroe Wine Society finished the year with an impressive four-course dinner at The Old Post House Hotel in Clitheroe. Following the Champagne reception drinking Pol Roger Brut Reserve Non-Vintage (NV) the fish starter was served with Nuovo Quadro La Battistina 2010. The two red wines; an old world Quinta do Vale Meao Douro 2001 from Portugal contrasted well with the new world Torbreck “The Steadding” from Barossa Valley in Australia, 2001. Both of these wines went exceptionally well with the rack of lamb and seasonal vegetables. A selection of desserts were served with the sweet wine of Prince Pontiniski Clos Baudoin Vouvray 1990. To finish a Grahams Vintage Port 1980 accompanied the cheese board. Clitheroe Wine Society reconvenes on Tuesday, 27th September. We meet on the last Tuesday of each month except July, August and December and have two Wine Dinners during the year. We have had a wine holiday and wine related visits to wine tastings. There is no membership; just £12 per month to cover the costs of the 6-9 wines tasted each evening and administration. The meetings have great variety with visiting speakers, members’ presentations,

countries and the grapes that they produce. We have four vacancies in the group at the moment.
