August already and we’re still waiting for the summer to start, and guess what, it only rained on St Swithen’s day, so according to folk lore we’re in for a right drenching. If we do get rained in we will always have the new football season to look forward to on the Telly. But then again most of

it will be on Sky–and ours doesn’t

work when it’s raining. On a brighter note, we have another Mystery pub competition on page 24 with another chance to win £20 to spend at that pub. This one will really test your knowledge on the pubs that appear on the Telly. We have a pictorial report on the great success of the Whalley Live Festival held recently, bringing music lovers

flocking by their

thousands to the village. We can also look forward to another fabulous event in the Ribble Valley on Saturday 13th August. The Clitheroe Food Festival will be a major attraction, and, building on last years success, will be based in New Market Street but with fringe events all over the town. To complete the day there is the ever popular “ Last Night Of The Proms” at the Clitheroe Bandstand in the Castle grounds. If you haven’t experienced this patriotic event before you should make an effort this year. We can recommend it. More details on page 3. We have a tribute to Michael Jackson in our “Born in August” column

on page 19. He was officially the most successful

entertainer of all time. And talking of entertainment, this months edition has an

abundance of the usual jokes, quizzes and humorous stories to bring you a bit of cheer. Enjoy.
