and wander through wildflower-strewn sub-alpine meadows.
After that, your path will bring you to the doorstep of the Echo Valley Ranch, where you’ll find a perfect combination of rugged wilderness, exquisite Thai massage and a kitchen captained by culinary Olympian, Kim Madsen.
From Echo Valley, head northwest for the Nemiah Valley in the Chilcotin Plateau. Take a day to fish Chaunigan Lake at Chaunigan Lake Lodge for trophy wild rainbow trout. Here you can also take in a prime opportunity to explore glacier lakes and wild rivers by canoe or kayak.
The next stop on the tour is Taseko Lake Lodge where canoe and hiking expeditions, pack horse expeditions, and excellent fishing are there for the taking.
Trail Rides In the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast you’ll find a sunny, dry climate, and inspirational views of the Coast Range Mountains, wild spruce forests, wild flower alpine meadows... and very few bugs in the rain-shadow of the South Chilcotin Mountains. A horse riding vacation or a mountain horseback trail trip at Chilcotin Holidays Guest Ranch is something you’ll take with you for the rest of your life. You’ll receive an introduction to western mountain riding on horses that are native to the Cariboo-Chilcotin wild Cayuse herds. They have stamina and toughness, lots of energy, intelligence, and a good disposition. If you’re an advanced rider, the alpine is just a short ride away with high passes and 360 degree views of the surrounding mountains. Mule deer, mountain goat, moose, and bear are seen often here.
Pack Horse Trips Follow game trails, cross rivers, and enjoy open-air lunches with the world’s best views as you travel on horseback to mountain-top passes. You’ll ride through wide wild-flower valleys, hay meadows, and big-game mineral licks. Bring your camera for photo opportunities that are once in a lifetime: turquoise green glaciers, snow caves, and wildlife including mountain goats, bighorn sheep, mule deer, moose, wolf, grizzly, and black bear. If you love fishing, let your guides know and they’ll select your camp according to a suitable lake or stream.
The Pioneer Ride along well-defined horse trails once used by explorers, pioneers, and gold miners. Based from one camp, you’ll ride through flowering alpine meadows and past pristine mountain lakes. There’s tons of wildlife along the route; the Loons plaintive call will echo through the night while you sit at fireside underneath star-studded skies.
