CALIFORNIA’S OUTDOOR RESORT
INDIO by Dean Unger
Outdoor Resort Indio is a luxury motor coach resort, located in California’s Coachella Valley. It’s a gated community that was developed to capture the serene, tranquil setting of the surrounding landscape. The grounds are highlighted by several lakes and a great par-three 18-hole golf course, the sum total offering an incredibly relaxing atmosphere that you would expect in a fine luxury resort.

Its central location means that there are plenty of seasonal and main-stay attractions at your fingertips, including the Indio Tamale Festival, the Southwest Arts Festival, the Living Desert, Desert IMAX Theatre and the Palm Springs Air Museum. “Desert walking and biking trails are numerous,” says owner and association member, Earl Andrusiak. “As well, there are incredible wilderness parks and historic sites to explore including the Thousand Ponds Oasis, Indian Canyon, Salton Sea, and Joshua Park.
Aside from the 18-hole golf course and the spa or pool-side relaxation, one of the defining qualities of Outdoor Resort Indio are the numerous options for fine dining in the immediate surrounding regions. With restaurants in Indio, La Quinta and Palm Springs, every night brings an adventure in dining.

Designed for Class A motor homes 34 feet and longer, the park features golf course view lots and perimeter privacy lots that vary from 35 feet in width to 90 feet long, by 65 feet by 100 feet in length. “This is a five-star resort that is owned and operated by the Home Owners’ Association,” Andrusiak says. “The Owners’ Association is the same as a condo association in Canada - all the individual lot owners collectively own the common property - pools and grounds and features. Regular association fees cover the common expenses such as water, sewer, cable, trash pick-up, lawn care, staff, maintenance, 24 hour security and reserve funds. All lots are fee-simple. This means you own your property outright and deal with it as you please rather than leasing. Each owner is a full equity member.”
The coach sites all have 30-50 amp service as well as cable television, telephone, water and sewer. RV lots
are available in various stages of development, ranging from basic to those with exquisite outdoor entertainment centres. “Basic means the lot entails a cement pad with all hook- ups,” says Andrusiak, “From there you can go right up to elaborate lots with outdoor kitchen, BBQ, heaters and misters, cabanas, and entertainment centres.”
The Indio clubhouse features a health spa, catering kitchen, a ballroom and dance floor that can accommodate more than 400 people; an owners’ lounge, billiard room, card room and library. The fully- equipped exercise room is outfitted with Nordic equipment, bikes, treadmills, and free-weights, and the equipment is updated yearly. The fitness centre also has showers, a locker room, indoor jacuzzi, steam room and a sauna, while the clubhouse provides open WIFI internet service. There are four outdoor swimming pools at Outdoor Resort Indio, equipped with jacuzzis, tennis courts and pickleball courts.
