South Wales-based accountancy firm HSJ Accountants has strengthened its Asset Management team with three key appointments. Director Paul Curran, who is a fully qualified


financial planner with more than 15 years industry experience, will head up the team and will be tasked with helping clients choose the right investments, ensure they have sufficient protection and plan for their retirement. He will be assisted by fully qualified financial


planner Jason Thomas and Laura Stacey, who joins the team from HSJ’s Cardiff office as office manager. Mr Thomas was previously employed as a financial


planner working with a team of independent financial advisors in Blaenau Gwent. He has worked in the accountancy profession for a number of years and is an affiliate member of the ACCA. His specialisms include wills and probate, trust and inheritance tax planning, retirement planning and pensions advice. Mrs Stacey, a certified chartered accountant who


has worked with HSJ for the past eight years, will be responsible for compliance and aligning the tax and accountancy services with those offered by HSJ Asset Management. The new Asset Management structure follows the


rebranding of the business in 2010 to better reflect its key service areas and is part of HSJ’s vision to improve the financial wellbeing of its clients.


Firm branches out into storage


One of the UK’s leading removal and Storage companies has expanded into Newport with the opening of a new warehouse complex. The new facility, on Leeway Industrial


Estate, was opened by the Mayor of Newport, Councillor Bill Langsford at a special reception for clients, staff and friends of the business. The 17,000 sq ft warehouse, which is


spread over three floors and serviced by a lift, offers a one stop shop for all customers’ moving and storage needs and is divided into space for traditional container storage for the removals side of the business and 120 self storage units ranging in size from 15 sq ft to 200 sq ft. Managing director Paul Fox said:

A former Gwent Young Entrepreneur of the Year has brought his award-winning business, Kelvedon Pest Control, back to home soil after ten years. Dubbed by the local media as ‘The Pied Piper


of Llanmartin’, Chris Johnson was awarded the Gwent Young Entrepreneur of the Year as part of the Livewire scheme in 1993, at the age of 19, just two months after starting up his company. The Kelvedon Pest Control business plan was


selected as the most promising by a panel of veteran judges from Barclays and Lloyds banks, and earned Chris a personal invitation from HRH Prince of Wales to the national finals after beating off 85 contestants. After a successful string of business ventures


in the South West, Chris feels now is the right time to bring Kelevedon back to its Welsh roots. He said: “All the signs are already pointing
