GREEN BUILT GULF COAST. IS IT FOR ME? Sponsored by: Houston Habitat for Humanity and DPIS Engineering Tuesday, June 28 * 3P–6P

Instructor: Clayton Morris, DPIS Engineering Fee: $25 members / $35 nonmembers CONTENT: Sustainability and green building are on the forefront of modern day construction and homebuyers' mindset. There are many green programs out there, and at times it may be hard to choose. With this in mind, GHBA has adopted a program that not only encompasses energy efficiency, but also looks at the sustainability of a home. This is the Green Built Gulf Coast Program. It is based off of the International Code Council’s ICC-700 National Green Building Standard that was developed in part by the NAHB and ANSI Standards. The Green Built Gulf Coast program is based off of national standards, however it has unique modifications to help the homes better fit the Houston market and construction practices. This gives validity and credibility to your Green Certification that will benefit your home and the homebuyer. When certifying a home to a green program, you want to pick one that encompasses the whole home, land design, and that is uniquely designed to work in the environment where the home will be built.

Some may feel that a Green Building Program is hard to construct or costly to implement, however we are here to show you how compliance with the Green Built Gulf Coast program can be easy and affordable. We look forward to showing the ease and applicability of the Green Built Gulf Coast Program.
