WOMEN CONTRACTORS ASSOCIATION BOOTS & BLING TO BENEFIT HOMEAID

HomeAid Houston is forging a new relationship with the local Women Contractors Association (WCA). As leaders in their industry, WCA is committed to the advancement of women in the construction arena through education, support and networking. The association is assisting HomeAid in its mission to build transitional housing for men, women and children facing homelessness. On May 12, WCA hosted the “Boots & Bling A Western Fling” event at the Texas Safari Ranch Club in Sugarland. A portion of the proceeds from the event will be used to fund “Welcome Home,” the remodeling of the lobby at Santa Maria’s Spring Branch location, a HomeAid Care project.

Boots & Bling featured raffle prizes, a silent auction, door prizes and fun western themed activities including Buckin’ Bull, Hillbilly Horseshoes and Ropin’ Wranglers.

"Not only did we have a great time at Boots & Bling, we had an opportunity to get to know the great members of WCA,” said Parke Patterson, president of HomeAid Houston. “They really have a heart for the women and children we serve through our construction and remodeling projects and we are honored they would choose HomeAid as a beneficiary of this event."

HOMEAID HOSTS FIRST HALO LUNCHEON

More than 25 professional women within the construction industry attended the first HomeAid Houston HALO luncheon on May

Guests included members from the GHBA, staff from the local and national VOA (Volunteers of America) offices and HomeAid Houston board members. The event was underwritten by GHBA CEO and HomeAid board member Toy Wood. Nicole Lovell a graduate of VOA shared her story of homelessness, addiction and recovery.
