HomeAid Houston Welcomes Erika Morton
Erika Morton will join HomeAid Houston on June 1 through the ExxonMobil summer intern program.
Erika is an upcoming senior at Boston College, where she is studying Human
Development and Organizational Studies. She graduated from the Academy of Science and Technology at College Park High School.
This is Erika’s second internship in the ExxonMobil Community Summer Jobs Program. Last summer, she was the Summer Events Coordinator at Boys and Girls Country, a Christian home located in Hockley, Texas that serves children from families in crisis. This experience along with the ExxonMobil internship seminars solidified her passion and desire for working in non-profits that serve the community.
As the Marketing and Special Events Assistant for HomeAid Houston, her main responsibilities will revolve around the Project Playhouse fundraiser, but she will also be helping HomeAid with groundbreakings, dedications, maintaining the donor database, and helping with marketing materials. HomeAid is very excited to have Erika with us this summer!
Cinco Ranch Wins 2011 HBJ Landmark Award
Cinco Ranch has won the Houston Business Journal’s 2011 Landmark Award for Residential Development, with judges citing the Katy community’s 20-year track record and recent acquisition of 492 acres for expansion as key factors in the win.
“Landmark projects are those that continuously improve the look, feel and image of Houston,” said HBJ Publisher John Beddow in a written statement.
The HBJ noted that with 817 new- home sales in 2010, Cinco Ranch led the Houston area in new home sales during a challenging economic year. The purchase of 492 acres in 2010 increased Cinco Ranch to 8,092 acres and provides land for 1,200 additional homesites. The Landmark judges also cited the success of LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch, a 34-acre town center filled with national retailers and local boutiques. LaCenterra’s developer, The Vista Companies, is planning a second phase that will include Class A office space and loft apartments.
“As Cinco Ranch celebrates its 20th birthday and the grand opening of its new model home village this spring, we deeply appreciate the recognition bestowed by the HBJ Landmark award,” said Heather Gould, marketing director for Newland Communities, developer of Cinco Ranch.
