NAME: HANS KIM Home Town: Vancouver Team: Misfit Position: D-line handler Years Played: 2 Photo by: GY Photographes If you could be coached by anyone who
would it be and why? Instead of choosing any other coach, I would stick with my current school coach, Jon Hayduk. Since I am still a relatively new player, I believe there is still much to be learned from him because he is a great player himself. I respect him immensely and hope to become a better player through his guidance. What does “Spirit of the Game” mean to you? Spirit of the Game means playing the best game every game while still maintaining integrity, respect, and competition. This entails a sense of fair play, love for the sport, and, above all else, pushing others to become better. What is your favourite Ultimate moment? My first layout d.
NAME: KRISTEN WITWER Home Town: Calgary Team: CUJO Position: D-line cutter Years Played: 2 Who is your most influential Ultimate player and why?
My most influential Ultimate player would hands down have to be Tim Friesen. He is the one who got me started in Ultimate, he taught me how to play the game and he is extremely supportive when we are just throwing around or while I’m on the field playing. He takes time out of his day to take me out throwing, and he even takes me to his teams games and lets me play with them, which really is an amazing experience. If you could be coached by anyone who
would it be and why? I’m already being coached by an amazing coach, Rob McLeod, also known as Ultimate Rob. He is extremely helpful and supportive to the team, and he really knows what he is talking about. What is your favourite Ultimate moment? My favourite Ultimate moment would definitely be when a player on my team pulled the greatest and we got a point!
NAME: HILLARY PRESCOTT Home Town: Winnipeg Team: DOAP Position: O-line and d-line handler Years Played: 2 Who is your most influential Ultimate player and why?
My most influential Ultimate player is my cousin Ivan, who encouraged me to play the sport and said that it was impossible not to have fun in Ultimate. Ivan told me that if I didn’t sign up to play on one of the school teams at the Hold Back the Snow tournament, he was going to write my name on the sheet for me. The summer before I started playing provincial Ultimate, I would watch his junior team practice and decided that it was something that I would like to do as well. What does “Spirit of the Game” mean to
you? To me, “Spirit of the Game” is a huge part of Ultimate. It means that you go 110% every game you play but good sportsmanship, honesty and fair play are never sacrificed just because there aren’t referees to call you out on it. What is your pre-game pump up song? Airplanes - B.o.B ft. Hayley Williams, Not Afraid – Eminem, Dynamite - Taio Cruz What is your favourite Ultimate moment? My favourite Ultimate moment was during the Flatlands tournament when DOAP won its first ever game. It was really great to be a part of that.
