UC Junior All-Stars
In 2010 the Ultimate Canada development committee would like to acknowledge top juniors from across the country. In order to do this, the junior all-star award was created where each team selected its top male and female player from the CUC. Over the next 2 Ultimate Canada Magazine issues we’ll highlight each of these up and coming stars with some of the answer they’ve sent in. player and why? In Ultimate, because it’s still a growing sport that receives no television coverage, it’s much more difficult to identify idols and players that have been a big influence. At this time, I would have to say that it is Nick Menzies on Furious George. Nick has been coaching me on our high school team for the last 3 years and he’s taught me more than just disc skills or cutting techniques. He’s played a big role in how I try to approach the game, and there’s one thing he once told us in particular that I try to always remember; “hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard”. What is your pre-game pump up song? Best of You - Foo Fighters What is your favourite Ultimate moment? BC High School Provincials, watching every single one of my teammates step up when I couldn’t play.
