Kira Frew is a household name in the Canadian Ultimate scene. Starting as a juniors player, she helped Canada earn a gold medal at the 2004 WJUC. Since that auspicious start, she has continued to be a star. She led the UBC Thunderbirds to many successful college seasons, culminating in a 2008 Ultimate Players Association College Championship in her fifth year on the team. She has been a mainstay for Vancouver Ultimate as well as teams representing Canada. She helped Team Fisher Price earn gold at the 2006 WUCC in Perth, Australia and then was a key element to success for the gold medal coed team at the 2008 WUGC, playing in front of a home crowd in Vancouver, BC. Additionally, Kira was selected to play on Team Canada for the 2009 World Games team, a huge honor for the top players in the country. “In fact, Kira has helped set the standard of excellence for women’s Ultimate in the country. In both the women’s and coed game, she is a handler who does it all: efficiently breaks the mark with her quick low-release throws, hucks with precision and a distance impressive for her small stature, acts as field marshall
