Te Sunshine Coast’s Aussie World fun park is investing AUS$2m (US$2m, £1.25m, €1.45m) in two new rides, the first of which opened just before the Easter holidays. Te first ride that launched was the Giant
Redback – a 24-seater Disk’O’ ride man- ufactured by Italian supplier Zamperla – while the details of the second ride, which is due to open later this year, will be announced in due course.

Warner Bros has announced plans to launch its new Harry Potter studio tour attrac- tion at Leavesden Studios, Hertfordshire, in spring 2012. In January, it was revealed that US-based exhibition design company Thinkwell had been appointed to design the Warner Bros Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter. The walking tour will
enable visitors to go behind the scenes of the film series, with a range of authentic sets, costumes, animatronics, props and effects on display. Lasting three hours, the tour will allow visitors to step foot onto sets from the Potter films, such as the Great Hall, Dumbledore’s office and others yet to be confirmed. L’Odyssée des Bâtisseurs theme park in Alma, Quebec, Canada is to be enhanced with the help of a CA$175,000 (£110,000, €129,900, US$177,500) government grant. The non-repayable cash has been
provided through the Community Diversification scheme to Société d’histoire du Lac-Saint-Jean Inc. Under the first phase of work at the
attraction, a multimedia, multi-sensory 360-degree film on the theme of water will be developed at the park’s water tower.
China is considering plans for its own Eden Project

A new sister site for Cornwall’s Eden Project could be developed in China as part of efforts to expand the concept to over- seas locations. According to the BBC, Eden Project
director Tim Smit believes that work could commence on the Chinese version of the attraction within 18 months. In 2008, Smit told Attractions Management that discus- sions had started to take Eden overseas. It was also reported that Singapore is in line for a similar attraction.
14 Warner Bros has pledged to invest £100m in developing the studios
said: “Te tour promises to be one of the most exciting and memorable visitor attractions anywhere in Europe.” Warner Bros acquired the studio complex
last November and plans to spend £100m (€112m, US$163m) on developing the site, which produced all eight Harry Potter films.

Merlin Entertainments Group has completed the acquisi- tion of Sydney Attractions Group and Kelly Tarlton’s Underwater World from Village Roadshow. Te AU$115m (US$114m,
£73m, €85m) deal, announced in December 2010, includes Sydney’s top three tour- ist attractions – Sydney Aquarium, Sydney Wildlife World and the Sydney Tower Observatory and Skywalk, as well as Manly Oceanworld in Sydney, the Hamilton Island Wildlife Park in Queensland and Kelly Tarlton’s Antarctic Encounter and Underwater World in Auckland, New Zealand. Merlin will undertake a multi-million dollar investment programme for the six attractions
