Kerry Foods install T. Freemantle

sleever Kerry Foods have installed a fully automatic wraparound sleeving machine from T. Freemantle Limited for their recently launched range of Mattessons branded Rippa Dippa meat based snacks. With such a prestigious brand name and a tight schedule to meet, Kerry Foods considered a number of potential equipment suppliers. T. Freemantle came out as the clear choice as the UK market leader and installed the machine comfortably meeting the critical product launch date. The pack consists of three twin compartment pots wrapped within one carton board sleeve. The sleeve with its striking graphics and spot varnish had to be presented perfectly to meet the high demands of Kerry Foods. The machine incorporates a simple infeed transfer to collate three pots from the line and feed them into the machine. The flat sleeve is then selected from a magazine and wrapped around the product before being glued together. The sleeve allows the edges of the pot to protrude through apertures in the sidewalls of the sleeve to secure the pots in place within the sleeve. Multivac develops integration line

Multivac has developed a concept for integrating equipment for the high pressure treatment of foods into fully automatic packaging lines. This means that for the first time the high pressure treatment of foods within the packaging process is viable. Multivac offers the service not only for vacuum, but also for MAP packs. High pressure

treatment packaged food is subjected for a sufficiently long period to a high pressure of up to 6,000 bar in a so-called autoclave, which is a lockable and gas tight pressure container. Through this reliable process, microorganisms in the food such as listeria and salmonella are killed. As the process is conducted under ambient temperature, even heat-sensitive food products can be treated and this way be preserved for up to four times longer. At the same time the original nutritional value and taste remain nearly unimpaired. For more information visit www.multivac.com.

AIR SHAFT TECHNOLOGY AT ITS BEST

The technology incorporated in the Svecom lightweight shaft has been developed from the original that changed the air shaft industry, the Svecom 640/PL multi-bladdered model. Manufactured from lightweight, aircraft-grade aluminium, the low weight of the shaft body allows easy and safe manual handling. This results in efficient insertion and withdrawal of the shaft from the reels, thereby increasing production through

quicker reel changes. Other advantages the upgraded version shows over other types of airshafts are that the Svecom shaft will centre cores; run faster and concentric; carry more reel weight; has greater gripping power and will cope with reused or worn cores. It is far easier to repair, meaning less maintenance time. For more information call 01753 825122, email sales@jarshire or visit www.jarshire.co.uk.
