SUCCESS continues

Following last issue’s look at easyFairs 2011, we return to the show to report on more success stories from the event that saw more than 4,000 visitors.

The two-day exhibit, which took place in February at the NEC in Birmingham, was hailed as a huge success, perfect for those looking for all things packaging, be it sustainability, shelf appeal, new concepts or the latest technology. Highlights of the show included 50 free-to-attend learnShops, a series of seminars which were

delivered by experts from across the industry, spanning all aspects of the sector. The Big Packaging Debate, a Question Time-style discussion, saw some of the industry’s biggest players questioned by attendees to the show. The Lions’ Lair, a nerve-jangling affair where ambitious packaging entrepreneurs pitched ideas to a panel of experts in a Dragon’s Den style, was also very popular. Below are just some of the success stories of the show as told to FMCG News.

Gainsborough show fill & seal machines

Gainsborough Engineering, supplier to the packaging industry for more than 40 years, showed its range of Vertical Form Fill & Seal machines at the show this year. The machines, which are often supplied to the market leaders in the food industry, use a modular concept in which the frame size is determined by the bag size. Optional components are then selected by the user, enabling maximum flexibility in order for a system to be chosen that meets that person’s specific needs. Other components that can be chosen specifically by the user include the type of drive, pneumatics, plc and electronics through to the type of feed interface. A four corner seal bag format is not the only offering from Gainsborough either. The company also has block bottom attachments, carry handles, tear strips and a choice of printers available to choose from. Changeover times can also be radically reduced with the wash down features, tool free parts and settings which are prevalent on Gainsborough’s products.
