Investment, innovation, intelligence A £2m investment in new equipment for Chadwicks is set to help further the company
Martin Hardman, sales and marketing director at Chadwicks Sleeves, discusses how an extensive £2m investment in new equipment will help further the lid and shrink sleeving specialists.
T
here is no denying that times are hard for the FMCG industry. Customers along the supply chain are placing increasing pressure on suppliers, not only to drive down prices, but also to improve the level of service and quality being provided. It seems there is still a long way to go before we return to some level of stability, however, businesses must remain optimistic. Strategic investment, constant innovation and intelligence are key to ensuring that your organisation can weather the storm and look forward to a fruitful future.
INVESTMENT DRIVES INNOVATION Without the right systems in place, companies can forget about ‘leading the way’ in their
“It is simply not enough to deliver the tried and tested”
field. Customer expectations have never been higher and they want to know that they are dealing with the front-runner in their sector.
In the last year, Chadwicks has invested heavily in new equipment and technology to secure its position as a leading pan-European flexible packaging supplier. We’ve recently invested a huge £2m in new state-of-the-art factory equipment, which together with our sister Clondalkin Group company Nyco, has helped us become one of Europe’s largest niche shrink sleeves providers. Our customers now benefit from a cutting edge high-speed MPS UV flexo press with gravure station, a DCM cut singles machine and a DCM seaming machine, which will all ensure faster lead times, greater quality and increased capability. We aim to provide customers with faster responses and more efficient ways of working. We provide digital, UV flexo, gravure and offset printing and Chadwicks’ range of speciality inks, materials and special features such as tamper evidence, multipack sleeves and recycle strips, offering
a heightened sense of choice to customers over any other supplier.
Our focus at trade shows this year has centred around demonstrating our expertise and capabilities in sleeve label manufacture and our theme – ‘The Future of Shrink Sleeves’ – is exactly where we see ourselves as a company.
It is not enough to simply deliver the tried and tested. The shrink sleeves market is very fast moving and creative and brands want quick, quality results from rapid prototyping and test runs right the way up to volume production. Suppliers need to make sure that they keep customers’ best interests at heart by continually innovating and researching new concepts to demonstrate that they are constantly one step ahead of competitors.
INTELLIGENCE IS KEY
Intelligence can manifest in various forms – from the calibre of a company’s people, to the high-tech systems it has in place. It is important
to ensure that you are striving to be the best in every way. Chadwicks is renowned for its world class customer service and we have retained many of our clients for years because of it. We are also active in making sure that we stay ahead of all the latest trends and industry developments, which we use to the customer’s advantage. There’s no escaping the fact that business boils down to the commercials. Just like shoppers on the high street, customers in the FMCG industry are increasingly prepared to shop around for the best deals. By recruiting the best talent and investing wisely in the right equipment and technology, as well as innovating to develop leading, industry-first products, suppliers can make the next few years that little bit easier on themselves. Meanwhile we can all look forward to that steady economic climb that’s on the horizon.
