Bobby’s Blog Friendly advice from your local Bobby on the Beat PC 2559 Andrew Sarchet Great Harwood Community Beat Manager Great Harwood police Station: 01254 353334 Crime stoppers 0800 555 111 Cannabis Due to some people believing the contrary, I would just like to clarify that Cannabis is an illegal class B drug. Any person caught even in simple possession of Cannabis for their own use, are committing a drugs offence and can be arrested. When a person receives a Police Caution or is later prosecuted at court for the offence, it is later recorded on the Police National Computer. This conviction or caution could affect a person’s current employment or any future potential employment. Adults purchasing alcohol for youths. Police Officers regularly receive complaints regarding youths causing problems drinking alcohol in the street and often complain as to how the alcohol has been obtained. PC Sarchet and PCSO Skoczen recently caught a Male adult in Great Harwood who had bought a large bottle of cider and a bottle of vodka and was about to hand them over to under aged youths. This male was issued with a £80.00 fixed penalty notice. Some people believe that it is harmless to buy alcohol for youths, but this unfortunately leads to an increase in Anti-Social Behaviour and criminal damage in the local area. Scrap collection Vehicles targeted Due to receiving complaints from members of the public, The Neighbourhood Police Officers from Great Harwood, Rishton, Clayton Le Moors and Altham joined forces with other agencies being the Vehicle Operators Standards Agency, Revenue Customs and BT Openreach investigators. Together we conducted several roadside operations stopping vehicle carrying scrap. A total of 48 vehicles were stopped, 1 driver prosecuted for running on red diesel, 3 having no waste carriers licence and 7 vehicles issued with prohibition notices for having defects. Email:

Great Harwood Golf - New Season Gets Underway. Past captain Tony Belfield claimed a three-shot victory in Great Harwood's first-ever Captain's Drive-In last Sunday. The 2004 captain returned a score of 78/9/69 to finish three shots clear of the field. Mark Ritson claimed second with a score of 91/19/72, pushing another past captain, C.J Walsh (89/17/72), into third place. New Captain Arthur Drain challenged entrants to 'Beat The Captain's Score', a test that more than half of the 64 man field managed to do. The Captain got round with a score of 90/11/79 - meaning 35 players walked away with a golf ball courtesy of the Captain, while 29 members, including his son Michael, were left to donate £1 to the Captain's Charity after failing to match or better his score. Afterwards Mr Drain said: "It's nice to have the season up-and- running. I've been Captain since November so it's nice to finally start the competitions. "I'd have liked to return a better score than 79 but that's golf! I hope everyone enjoyed the Captain's Challenge." If You Can’t Say anything Nice ! Don’t leave yet, I want to forget you exactly the way you are. You may be a down to earth guy, but you’re not down far enough to suit me. Would you mind keeping your mouth shut, my houseplants are wilting. I’m not your type, I have a pulse. Shock me, say something intelligent. I’ve got a minute, tell me everything you know. That’s what happens when you drink on an empty head.
