Our next door neighbours have started taking separate skiing holidays. I think their relationship is going downhill fast.

It Never Rains ! Hyndburn Weather Report for February 2011 With far more than The North West (UK) average, Hyndburn suffered a very wet month. I knew things were going wrong when a farmer near to me was building some kind of craft, and lining up animals two by two prior to embarkation! In total 194mm fell locally, that’s almost 8ins, with 40mm being dropped on us on the 5th. With so much wet weather around, dry days were few and far between. There were only 5 dry days in the whole of the month. Temperatures held up quite well though, with little frost around, apart from the last day when the mercury fell to zero overnight. 52.6 hours of sunshine (Met. Office) was all we got during Feb. Air pressure which governs most of our weather was stable throughout, until it really climbed to 1030mbs at the end of February leading to very light winds. Now things have to change for next month as it should “come in like a lion, and go out like a lamb”. Traditionally the wind sometimes will pick up for the start of next month, but for now there is no sign that will happen. By now though, we should be over the worst of the winter, but you never know, so don’t “cast a clout until May is out”. Does that mean the month of May, or the May blossom on the hawthorn hedging, there is a difference of opinion here sometimes, but whichever it is, by then it should be a little warmer. Till next month, stay warm, Frank Whittaker. Supporting www.macmillan.org.uk

I went to the cemetery yesterday to lay some flowers on a grave. As I was standing there I noticed 4 grave diggers walking about with a coffin...

3 hours later and they're still walking about with it... I thought to myself, these lads have lost the plot!!
