has just recently acquired property for the construction of two new fire stations. A 5.23 acre track was purchased
at 1075 Newfound Road located next to the Newfound Community Center to add an auxiliary fire sta- tion by the end of 2011. Te main reason for the new fire station in Newfound is to bring the areas of upper Newfound, Hookers Gap, Morgan Branch, Potato Branch and the upper end of South Turkey Creek into a six-mile radius of a fire station. Tese areas are currently unrated and home owners insur- ance is higher for these areas. Once the station is constructed,
the N.C. Department of Insurance will need to do an inspection and rate the area. Tere is currently a block build-
ing on the property in Newfound that can potentially be used for the bay area that houses the trucks. “We already have the equipment
for the new station. We have an en- gine truck, tanker truck and a brush truck,” said Chief Ted Williams of
