Curriculum
All children in school follow a programme of study developed by staff in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (Nursery and Reception) and the National Curriculum (Year 1 – Year 6). Copies of these may be seen in school. All subjects covered are in line with current Government policy. Subjects studied include English, mathematics, science, Information & Communication Technology, History, Geography, Religious Education, Music, Art & Design, Design Technology, Physical Education and Personal and Social Development. If parents have any queries about the curriculum they are asked first to consult the class teachers and if necessary the Headteacher and Governing Body. Documents about the school may be consulted at the school office.
Assessment
In the Early Years, children’s learning is tracked through observations and assessments. An end of Foundation Stage Profile is completed in the summer term of Reception. All children are assessed at the age of 7 (Year 2). This assessment is carried out by your child’s class teacher using a range of evidence to support judgements, in line with Department of Education guidelines. Parents receive a full report of the results of assessments at the end of Key Stage 1.
All children are assessed at the age of 11 (Year 6). This assessment is in line with Government directives, using national test materials. Parents receive a full report of the results of assessments at the end of Key Stage 2.
