F♠NCY A POKER ADVENTURE?
- Invitation to Mongolia
One such money-making opportunity has been drawn to our attention. It is a bit off the beaten track – over 1,300 metres above sea level in the Mongolian capital Ulan Bator.

A 17 table poker room has recently been opened there by the Mongolia Sport Poker United Association, a body which has already joined the International Federation of Poker. One of the organisers, Bold Uundai, said that the
body was in talks with the government to get poker recognized as a sport in the country and that a decision is expected later this Spring.
New clubs – with lots of new players – are often a profi table place to play for obvious reasons.
If this goes in the organisation’s favour the next step will be to arrange an international tournament there.
In the meantime Texas Hold’em is gaining popularity
in the city of a million people. Urangoo said that any European visitors would be made very welcome. “Although the locals speak Mongolian, English is commonly spoken and understood so there should be no language diffi culties,” he said.
The card room is in the centre of the city close to hotels, shops and restaurants.
Full details about the club can be found on its offi cial web site at
www.mnpoker.net.
* If any adventurous Poker Europa readers do go there we would be interested to receive a fi eld report.

Good Poker has launched a new app to go alongside their website, good-poker.
co.uk, to help players select the best
poker venue in their area.
It is free to join up as well as download. Good Poker aims to make things just as accessible for the smaller, independent clubs as it is for their larger competitors.
“Small clubs often don’t have the fi nances to generate the growth they want, while the big casinos often have glitzy advertising but can’t have the homely feel that some players want” Director Keith Scott said: “We want people to
enjoy their poker, whether they are playing for £5 or £50,000, which is why we are determined to keep costs down by not making much profi t. At the same time we should be able to gather everyone to one place, to fi nd what they are looking for, like a 118 of the poker world with all the information just a few clicks away”
