ntrepreneurs Bill D’Alessandro and Clay Iman present KP Elements, an all-natu- ral skin care line that treats the most common skin ailment people have never heard of: keratosis pilaris. Manifesting as red, irritating bumps on the back of people’s arms or thighs, keratosis pilaris (KP) affects approximately 40 percent of the population and up to 80 percent of adolescents, according to the American Academy of Derma- tology. Readily treatable, KP is caused by an excess amount of a protein called keratin, which mounds at hair follicles, plugging them and creating the red bumps. As sufferers themselves, D’Alessandro and Iman set out to rid themselves of this condition. “After significant research, given the absence of a great product on the market, I found many people using all kinds of things they claimed cleared up KP—foot creams, face creams, stuff from their pantries, items from their gardens. There were also products people were using with chemicals in them that exacer- bated the condition and harmed their skin,” explains D’Alessandro. The result of a collaboration with scientists and an experienced formulation team, KP Elements combines natural ingredients to create a balanced treatment for KP that D’Alessandro and Iman say is fast and effective.
