development of regulations in mainland Europe. As GLI builds our experience base in these countries, we are able to then share those same experiences with regulators in gaming jurisdictions around the world. This is a direct result of the customer-centric approach GLI has taken to providing advice to regulators and compliance testing to manufacturers and software developers. GLI has also taken steps in the last three years to develop internal practices that facilitate the flow of information from one region to the other. Our engineering and compliance practices have become globally integrated, so we can now provide the same level and quality of technical consulting to our clients regardless of time zone or market need. With those capabilities, it has been a much easier process to quickly grow our iGaming knowledge base in multiple offices around the world, which in turn has allowed us to meet the enormous growth in the need for compliance testing in the iGaming sector.
What was your reason for joining GLI Europe? Joining GLI Europe for me was a fantastic chance to get international experience in a global gaming market place. I saw the opportunity as both a business challenge and a catalyst for personal growth. When I joined the business, it already had a strong foundation that was built by my predecessors. But there was still a gap in the global integration of the capabilities of GLI. I was able to both foster greater communication between GLI offices, as well as bring aboard some experienced and up-and-coming European talent. It has been one of my proudest accomplishments to assemble such a strong and diverse team to work within the European offices. Additions such as Martin Britton as our Director of Operations and Filippo Ferri as our Director of iGaming Development have enabled us to grow the GLI brand in new and innovative ways and have also allowed us to present the company as a global leader in technology with deep country specific experience. Now as we move forward both in new casino markets and the fast growing iGaming market, the GLI brand in Europe is very strong. While it is tempting to rest on our laurels, the team is always looking ways to improve our service to regulators and clients, as well as continue to prove that we are the leading technology experts when it comes to all things gaming.
What’s the best piece of business advice you have ever been given? I learn every day on the job from the people around me who, if you are willing to pay attention, will

always give you subtle feedback. I have also been fortunate enough to have mentors like James Maida, Roland van der Meer and David Liebman. But the two best pieces of advice I have ever received are to always take care of your customers and to take a compassionate view when dealing with everyone, no matter if they are inside or outside of your organization. At the end of the day, all of our businesses are built on human capital, which is very difficult to replace. I strive every day to create an atmosphere where the people I work with can excel and grow in the careers and feel confident that they have an impact on the direction and success of the industry and our clients’ interests.
Whay can we expect from you at ICE? We will be talking about our exclusive tools that help both regulators and suppliers do their jobs more efficiently. For example, GLIAccess is the password-protected back-end of our website where regulators and suppliers can check status of submissions, certifications and revocations as well as receive critical updates. GLI Verify is a hand-held tool that lets regulators take the lab with them to the gaming floor to quickly and easily verify that the device or system in operation on the floor is the same as what was certified in the lab. GLI Link is an exciting tool that allows suppliers to link their device(s) to any system from any GLI lab. So instead of shipping devices and systems all of over the world, the testing can be done over the internet, saving incredible amounts of time and money. Then our
Point.Click.Transfer. feature enables suppliers to quickly and easily transfer previously certified devices and systems to other jurisdictions with the click of a mouse. This allows for quick, easy entry into the global marketplace. No other lab offers any tools that are anything like these.
Finally, what are the European offices main goals for 2011? Our goals are the same regardless of the year or development in the industry. We strive every day to make GLI the premier technology consultant to regulators and developers alike. We will always remain impartial and independent. We work every day to provide unrivalled customer service to all of our clients regardless of their size. If we can balance these three objectives, we feel we are doing our job well and will help the industry grow and be able to share in the success.
