First let me welcome on board some more staff: Chris Sanson has joined us in the UK as Assistant Journal Manager whilst in Singapore, Danny Cunningham will be our Asian Gaming Correspondent. Here in Ukraine, where I am based, the rumour mill is still grinding about the return of casinos but in Russia at least some common sense has prevailed. As reported in a previous issue the Azov zone appeared to be in the wrong place… and so now, confirmation has been received that it is going to be “moved to the coast” where there is infrastructure; population – all very useful in a gambling zone. It is also quite close to Crimea – so hopefully someone somewhere will wake up and introduce gambling back into Ukraine – sensibly (But don’t hold your breath on the last point). And so to this issue where we have editorial that covers a wide range of topics. We talk to Ron Goudsmit at Holland Casinos, Andrew Cammegh, Richard Noble at Aspers, Robert Dunn at GPT, Walter Bugno - the new CEO of Lottomatica, Phillip Barow about GLI Europe; Frank Fahrenkopf, President of the American Gaming Association - and Courtney Muller, Senior Vice President, Reed Exhibitions, about the recent G2E show. Finally, it’s only January but Ladbrokes Mobile Masters snooker
W
final at Wembley Arena between Hong Kong’s Marco Fu and China’s Ding Junhui, will go down as one of 2011 most watched sporting finals. It is estimated that over 100 million Chinese fans tuned in to watch the dramatic final. Now there’s an opportunity for a slot and multiplayer game - who’s
first up for games involving snooker? Bookmakers such as Ladbrokes and the online poker companies have taken over from the cigarette manufacturers, yet no one from the manufacturing side yet is cashing in on the craze for snooker with any decent slot or multiplayer games for casinos in Asia. Cheque in the post please. Let me repeat that viewing figure: 100 million. We hope you have a great show and look forward to meeting some of you in London!
elcome to casino life and our ICE issue.
