How many regulators does GLI have as clients in jurisdictions around the World? GLI serves more than 455 regulators in jurisdictions around the world. We have 15 labs on 6 continents with more than 500 employees all working together to best serve our clients in each of those 455 jurisdictions.

How does GLI cope with the never ending changes in technology and legislation? We live in an incredibly exciting era. Technology advances daily and those advances bring amazing new opportunities for gaming to become increasingly more entertaining and engaging. As the question alludes, those advances also bring challenges for regulators. Fortunately, GLI has a global footprint, and when a new technology migrates from one jurisdiction to another, chances are that GLI has already evaluated the new technology and can explain it to the regulator in a fair and impartial way. We can do this because the company has teams of people in each lab dedicated to researching and analyzing new technologies and hypothesizing how they may affect regulations in each jurisdiction. As a result, GLI has to constantly update our testing standard series, as well as introduce new standards as they become necessary. That series, called the GLI Standard Series, is available for free download on our website. They are living documents, constantly updated, designed to help both suppliers and regulators. They help suppliers by giving them a foundation for research and development, and they help regulators by providing a clear starting point for testing and regulation. Let’s be clear — we don’t dictate to regulators that they must use the standards; rather, the standards are a sort of “best practices” of regulations from around the globe.

What is the range of gaming machine software & Systems that GLI test & certify? We like to say, “If they can create it, we can test it.” We test AWP, bingo, bonusing, Class II, electronic bingo systems, lottery devices and systems, networked gaming, peripherals like bill validators and printers, progressives, slot devices and systems, tote systems, VLT and wireless/mobile. We test at all phases of development including pre- certification, prototype, modification, the math involved, the random number generator or RNG, transfer and pay glass. And in addition to testing we also provide services like consultation, legal opinion, forensic examinations and onsite field inspections.

I understand GLI was the first test laboratory to be certified in accordance with the Gaming Standards Associations new certification program? That is true. We have been working with GSA for many years, and our Las Vegas Lab was the first in the world to test for GSA interoperability. It has been a global, long-standing relationship.

GLI has quickly established itself as the leading test laboratory for the online gaming industry, given that a fair percentage of the operators and software suppliers are based in Europe is that a sector of the industry you are especially targeting? There is a tremendous need for testing in the online gaming arena, and yes, our GLI Europe labs and our TST labs have been very aggressive in helping regulators test and certify to help ensure the public trust. Our unrivalled experience in this area will be very helpful to our other clients outside of Europe should online gaming continue to expand into new jurisdictions. It is our view that while Europe is at the forefront of the regulated online gaming industry, the rest of the world will follow. While it is not possible to make accurate predictions as to when that will happen, it is our belief that this online gaming regulation will migrate over time to be regulated in accordance to the same level of assurance as the land based casinos in a particular jurisdiction. The pressures exerted on policymakers, due to the size of the market and potential for new sources of tax revenue, are two of the larger drivers of this process. GLI recognizes this, and therefore have made the decision to amass skills, methodologies, best practices and gain an intimate understanding of the industry which we hope to share with regulators around the globe as they decide to learn more about and eventually regulate online gaming.

The continued growth in Online seems endless with new gaming sites going live everyday. How has GLI’s expertise assisted this fast moving industry? It is fortunate that GLI holds a unique position in the industry. Because we are independent and have no partiality to any casino, software developer, online gaming operator or industry participant, we feel very comfortable that we can give regulators advice on best practices that we see happening throughout the industry across jurisdictions and across continents. It is very interesting to see how regulatory practices in some of the more establish gaming jurisdictions, such as Alderney and Malta, have influenced the
