LATHAMS NEW FLOORING DIVISION

James Latham’s new flooring division has opened its doors as a one-stop-shop for solid and engineered wood flooring. The company introduced a range of pre-finished wood flooring across all nine of its depots seven years ago, but the business has grown to a point where a specialist division is required. DINESEN HEART OAK

Danish flooring manufacturer Dinesen has launched a new solid oak plank with widths of up to 0.5 metres and lengths up to 6 metres. Thomas Dinesen, who is fourth generation in the family business and a qualified forester, comments: “With HeartOak® we use as much of the wood as possible for our floorboards. Anything else would be disrespectful to the huge oak trees which are normally between 150 and 200 years old. At the same time by retaining the cracks, the planks get a unique look, and this gives the architects a whole new range of possibilities.” The first instalment of HeartOak is at the Gallery Mess Café in London. FORBO ALLURA

Forbo has introduced a number of new collections that aim to dramatically reduce its carbon footprint by using recycled content in product backings, producing entirely on green energy, and avoiding long-distance container transports. The new Allura collection, for example, is no longer sourced from Asia, but manufactured in the Forbo Coevorden plant using a unique process. The range features designs for wood, stone and metal as well as ceramics, which are presented as a hard wearing luxury vinyl tile. Tel: +44 (0)800 0282 162 www.forbo-flooring.com
