Operation SAFE HOME

Crime, the fear of crime and especially Theft of property, both military and personal, from barrack rooms or quarters, at home or in theatre, is a concern to all of us. Many of our Garrison Units will be deployed on operations this year and to help combat crime – and the fear of crime – while they are away, the Royal Military Police will be conducting Operation SAFE HOME.

Advice for families 1. Foot and vehicle patrols will be conducted throughout the quarter areas during the deployment, in conjunction with Wiltshire/Hampshire Police.

2. All families should have received an information pack from their Unit Welfare Officer which contains information on the ‘Good Neighbour’ Scheme, property marking advice, quarter security and emergency/useful telephone numbers.

3. If you are going away remember to complete the Good Neighbour Scheme leaflet and inform the RMP. Extra copies of all the forms are available from the RMP Police Station.

4. Upon request the RMP Crime Reduction Officer can attend Wives clubs / coffee mornings or Unit briefings to provide information and advice on a number of issues including Female Safety, Property marking, home security and basic Crime Reduction advice.

5. The RMP ‘Crime Beat’ website, which will be accessible through the ArmyNet and via a link on the ‘One Vision’ website will be a one stop shop for information and advice on all local Policing issues around the garrisons as well as practical advice on Crime Reduction.

6. At various times throughout the deployment, the RMP and Wiltshire Police will be visiting diffferent Quarter areas to conduct questionnaires where residents can highlight their crime concerns.
