Staffordshire 10 MOD Stafford

MOD Stafford is situated in the West Midlands to the north of Stafford in the heart of surrounding countryside. If travelling on the M6, exit at Junction 14 and follow the A34 until you get to a second traffic island, go straight over and follow the A513 (signed Uttoxeter) for approximately one mile. At the traffice lights continue on and Beacon Barracks is about 100 metres further down on the left.


Stafford town is a 5 minute drive away (or about 20 minutes on foot). It has a variety of High Street stores, an indoor market, recreation centre, Ten Pin Bowling, cinema, theatre, library, Job Centre and various pubs and places to eat. Staffordshire boasts more miles of canals than any other county. There is a wide range of places to visit and events that take place in Staffordshire; the HIVE can provide you with further information.


Resident Units


The following Units are currently based at MOD Stafford: HQ 12 Signal Group & Stafford Station, 22 Signal Regiment, Tactical Supply Wing, Army Recruiting Teams, MOD Police, MPGS, Army Cadet Force and Air Training Corps.


Unit Facilities


Beacon Barracks has a Londis shop with a cash machine, a Gymnasium and Sauna open to Service personnel and their dependants. The HUB Fraggers is open to all Junior Ranks and has free internet access. Off camp the Dixon Community Centre holds regular coffee mornings and a Parent and Toddlers group. The Beaconside Amenities Centre is off camp and is open on various days throughout the week, it is available to hire for private functions.

A 2-bedroom furnished quarter is available on the Beaconside SFA site and is available to book by telephoning 01785 787445.


Service Families Accommodation MOD Stafford has SFA on Beacon Barracks within the village of Hopton for officers. Other ranks are at Beaconside, half a mile from the barracks. For allocations contact the Housing Information Centre on Tel: 0800 169 6322. Stafford is covered by HIC No.7 – Telford.

Whittington Barracks Lichfield


This information sheet is designed to give you a general picture of Whittington and Lichfield. If you would like further, more detailed information on specific subjects please contact the HIVE. Whittington Barracks is amongst the oldest military camps still in use today and is ideally situated between Lichfield City and Tamworth, Birmingham City Centre is also within easy reach. The SFA is all within a ten-minute walk from camp, there is also a community centre and pre-school within easy reach of the families quarters. Whittington Village is also within walking distance from the estate.
