Bailey Swayngim, an 8-year-old from Etowah and granddaughter of Forester and Kay Fields of Clark Branch Road in Leicester, killed her first deer Oct. 23. The deer was taken in Saluda County, SC, with a Savage .243. She has hunted with her dad since she was 5 years old but this was actually the first hunt Bailey was able to shoot a deer on her own. She shot the doe at about 80 yards with one shot.
