Kristie Jones of Weaverville
has enjoyed delicious country- style cooking her entire life. Her parents, Don and Margaret Gar- rison of Weaverville, have always enjoyed cooking and spent a lot of time with her in the kitchen. “My mom and dad are great cooks,” Jones said. “Growing up, I can remember helping both of them cook. Making home- made biscuits and gravy was one of my favorites. We always had a garden so I cooked and canned lots of fresh vegetables too.” Jones enjoys making casseroles
and baking desserts the most. “My favorite part of cooking is definitely eating! I love southern foods but admit that I am not a very adventurous cook. I have plenty of good recipes to choose from so I tend to repeat our fa- vorite dishes,” Jones explained. “With the busyness of our fam- ily schedule, sometimes I have to make what’s easiest.” Jones grew up in the Weaver-
ville community and is a 1996 graduate of North Buncombe High School. She attended Western Carolina University the year following her graduation. In 1998, she began working at the YWCA as the assistant di- rector of after-school program- ming. Ten in 2004, Jones began her current job with the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office as an administrative as- sistant for the undercover drug unit. Her husband, Joe, was a professional basketball player in Europe for eight years and has worked as an officer with the Asheville Police Department for the past three years. Tey are the proud parents of two sons, Joe (7) and D.J. (5). Jones is a member of Morgan Hill Baptist
