SPATEX 2011 WILL REFLECT A ‘MORE VIBRANT’ INDUSTRY

S

PATEX 2011 in February will be more of a complete reflection of the UK trade than ever before, say show organisers. The return of leading specialist companies as exhibitors, some of whom chose not to show last year, a record number of new products and more emphasis on the needs of commercial pools and wet facility operators together with the interests of both private pool owners and would-be owners will offer a different feel to the event. The exhibition is being held again at the Hilton Brighton Metropole from Saturday 5 February to Monday 7 February.

SPATEX was launched in 1997 and the 2011 event will be the 15th in the series and one which looks certain to reflect a more upbeat industry than over the past few years.

Said show organiser Michele Bridle: “There is certainly a great upbeat feel about the show which I am sure reflects that there is more confidence in the market. We are delighted to be able to welcome back exhibitors such as Golden Coast and Plastica who are very important for our visitors to see. We also have new exhibitors which bring some new life into the event.” Whilst retaining its essential trade show nature, as the UK’s only dedicated convention for pool and professionals, SPATEX has continued to add elements over the years to cater for the needs of commercial pools and wet facility operators and by rebranding itself as the Pool, Spa and Lifestyle Show has put out an invitation to both private pool owners, hot tub buyers and would-be pool owners to come to the show to see what is on offer to the consumer.

The ‘Pool and Spa Buyers’ Guide to Everything’ will feature a walk-through in a designated area, graphically illustrated by photographs and other exhibits. The potential or existing pool and spa owner will have the opportunity to compare products and prices from the entire range starting with a basic pool kit through to the £100,000 plus indoor pool.

As in trade shows all over the world the conference programme remains a vital part of any industry event. All the SPATEX workshops are free and for 2011 there are 13 new workshop

titles, with new presenters and three dedicated sessions for pool operators. The technical programme is organised by the Institute of Swimming Pool engineers.

Chris Hayes, BISHTA and SPATA’s Managing Director, says: “Next year’s event will see a number of milestones as we will be celebrating the 35th year of the SPATA Awards, the 50th anniversary of SPATA and the 10th anniversary of BISHTA. Given how tough the judging process was last year we expect it to be ever more competitive when we see this year’s entries come in.” Added Michele: “With a significant increase in exhibitor bookings on last year, and an exciting demonstration orientated Workshop Programme, coupled with some firm favourites – all backed up by an unprecedented PR campaign aimed at bringing new visitors to the show, SPATEX will be the wet leisure industry event of 2011 with all the industry experts and pool products under one roof!”

Architects and commercial pool owners and managers are a target for show organisers and both sectors have already been supportive of the show.

Allan Rosenberg, principal of Allan Rosenberg Architects, London said: “My client and I found the exhibition earlier this year to contain a wealth of information and expertise which were an invaluable help to us with the pool project we were working on, and is highly recommended.” New products to be launched at SPATEX 2011 will include: • The groundbreaking “Ecoblu” water management systems for spas, swim spas and pools.

• A new range of “Cyrius” LED lighting. • The unique Ultra TUFF non slip flexible paint. • A new Spa and Hot Tub Vinyl Cover cleaning system.

• UK’s Brand new ‘one stop’ Spare Parts Reference Catalogue for the spa and hot tub engineer.

• Europe’s first ever metric pipe and fitting saver. • The new range of Niebla Lustre finish glass mosaics.

• The fully automatic Portable Pro disabled lift and the new Rover Transporter.

PR stepped up to raise show profile One of the biggest developments in the build up to SPATEX 2011 will be a higher profile PR campaign – aimed at getting the message of the uniqueness of the three day event out to a larger audience.

Said show organiser Michele Bridle: “Our PR efforts will be bigger and better than ever before and we have SPN publishers Go Publishing and BOTTLE PR working together on a programme of TV, radio, local magazines and newspaper promotions. We want to get the public aware but we also want to stress to the trade that the show has a higher national profile.”

BBC Radio Sussex has pencilled in to run one of their morning programmes from the exhibition raising the profile of the industry. Newspaper and magazine competitions and articles started running from October onwards. spn
