www.swimmingpoolnews.co.uk THE DINGLES IN GENUINE JACUZZI HOT TUB

Jacuzzi UK loaned a top of the range J480 Jacuzzi Hot Tub to ITV as they filmed their Emmerdale Christmas DVD Special in Yorkshire. The storyline is set to include the Dingles family winning the lottery at Christmas and goes on to feature what they do with their new found fortune. The scenes involve the Dingles’ enjoying a luxury hot tub outside their new mansion and so the ITV crew approached Jacuzzi UK as they wanted to use a genuine Jacuzzi hot tub and a local supplier.

“As is typical in Yorkshire, the film set was in a beautiful but hilly location on the outskirts of

Huddersfield so it took a bit of forward planning from our logistics team and our engineers to get the tub in place for when the crew needed it,” said Jo Williams, Marketing Manager for Jacuzzi UK. Stephen Farrar, Production Buyer for ITV, said of the shoot, “Everything went perfectly with no problems whatsoever. Nigel Wolfenden, the engineer who helped us set the Jacuzzi hot tub up, and who explained how it worked and how to keep the water hygienic to the props chargehand, was brilliant.”

The J480 2010 model in desert sand roasted chestnut, was used by Zac and Sam Dingle with a

variety of bikini clad models during the 10 day shoot. “Usually when a scene has been set and the lights rigged etc, the setup guys drift off to set up the next scene,” continued Farrar, “however, it didn’t seem to happen that way this time. I wonder why?!”

The Emmerdale Christmas Special DVD will appear in the shops during November.

Purbeck Sports Centre in Wareham is the latest local authority to switch its swimming lesson awards programmes over to the STA. The centre is now operating STA’s International Learn to Swim Programme and is training all of their swimming teachers through STA. Purbeck Sports Centre has saved significant amounts of money and has seen a rise in the number of pupils attending swimming lessons. The centre now runs lessons for more than 400 pupils and has had to introduce a waiting list system.

On the STA’s Swimming Teaching Qualifications, Paul Davis, Duty Manager at Purbeck Sports Centre said: “In addition to the courses being very user friendly, one of the biggest benefits of using STA for Swimming

Teacher training is that their STC-B is a Level 2 teaching qualification. This means that our teachers can now teach on their own straight away, without supervision.”

Purbeck has also gone on to organise CPDs through STA for their swim teachers, and in recognition of the fact that there are significant cost savings to be made, have also converted over to STA’s Pool Plant qualifications and are now running regular Pool Plant Courses.
