AQUAFLEX HELP OUT IN MILLFIELD SCHOOL’S OLYMPIC AMBITITONS

Millfield Independent School in Street, Somerset is well known for its academic and sporting achievements. One of the school’s most famous old Millfieldians is Olympic Swimming Gold Medalist Duncan Goodhew. The school’s two pools; a full sized Olympic 52m x 21m and a smaller but still sizeable 13m x 7m were installed 15 years ago and both were in need of renovation. Licensed installer Aquaflex took on the task of lining both pools with the versatile, resilient and cost effective Alkorplan heavy duty on- site lining system. The complete project took four weeks to finalise leaving the pools again worthy of providing the Olympian standards Millfield demands. Aquaflex

produce swimming pool liners, solar covers and debris covers as well as pond liners and sewer inversion pipes. The Alkorplan on- site lining system is carried out by

Aquaflex’s trained personnel. An optional extra for the on-site lining is the addition of specialist pool insulation to comply with part L of building regulations.

CRYSTAL FOUNTAINS LAUNCHES WATER AND LIGHTS INNOVATIONS IN DUBAI

Crystal Fountains, the international water feature specialist, launched a range of new pool and spa products at the Middle East Pool and Spa Show in Dubai. These include Playdeck ChoreoSwitches, LED Ring and Spot Lights and the Small Fountain Controller.

Paul L’Heureux of Crystal Fountains said: “These products were very well received at the show and represent our ongoing commitment to improving products and developing new water feature technology for the market.” The Playdeck ChoreoSwitch is an all-in-one sequencing device with a choice of nozzle, safety grille and

lighting that makes it easy for installation, maintenance, and public safety. The product operates on international electrical frequencies (50/60Hz).

The Playdeck ChoreoSwitch is designed for interactive water features and for safety and performance. A playdeck is a suspended or poured deck with no standing body of water i.e. people can walk on it. The device can be programmed to produce stunning water and light shows. The products come in various versions to suit applications; round or square, four different nozzle effects, niche or slab-hung, stainless steel or bronze finish as well as a selection of LED RGB (Red, Green, Blue) or white lighting. Pre-programmed water and light shows can easily be created to suit an individual customer’s needs. The Playdeck Choreoswitch’s special solenoid device allows it to switch between different effects at incredibly high speeds at up to 10 different effects per second. Crystal Fountains also exhibited the latest in LED technology – its new LED Ring Light which provides 360 degree lighting around water effects. It is one of a series of circular LED Lights with a centre hole

that accommodates different Crystal Fountains nozzles.

The product is available in RGB or white light, is suitable for wet or dry locations, and provides good uplighting on a wall. Lights can be individually addressed to produce complex animated light sequences. Crystal Fountains also introduced the new ultra compact, LED007 Spotlight Series at the show. This product is specially designed for situations where visibility of the light fixture needs to be de-emphasised and/or space near the nozzle is tight. It is the most compact five watt, 12V light on the market. It can be used in multiple applications with various mounting options.

To complement these LED products, Crystal Fountains has introduced a compact but very powerful ‘Small Fountain Controller’ for easy installation. Essentially the product is a DMX storage and playback unit for fountain light shows and comes with pre-programming or custom programming options. The device is capable of delivering light shows to installations with up to 340 unique light addresses – LEDs are mini computers and their “light addresses” are the equivalent of their IP addresses for programming.
