SCP CONFERENCE SCP/Poolcorp welcomed over 1,000 people from SCP branches all around the world, plus 80 vendors presenting new and innovative products at its International Sales Conference and Vendors Showcase in Dallas, Texas. This year, international departments were especially honoured since they represent the most important growth potential of the company. Selected European suppliers were invited as well, such as Hayward, Pentair and Monarch, and took part of the three days to strengthen their partnership and present their new 2011 ranges and marketing tools.

The popular automatic cover Roldeck has been improved with the addition of the unique foam filled ProFlex slat.

The slats are new to Starline and its UK distributor, Certikin, and are offered alongside the standard, PVC and HQ Polycarbonate slats. The slats are made of PVC foam according to the ISO 1183 standard. The main advantage is their high insulation value – they have a U-Value of 0.186, ensuring minimal heat loss even on cold days and nights. The outside consists of high density PVC which provides a smooth surface making it very hard for algae to adhere so maintenance is minimal. Debris cannot get between the slats as these are connected by flexible joints.

The ProFlex slats are tailor-made at the Starline factory but can also be modified on site, for example, using a jigsaw, ensuring perfect alignment between the cover and the shape of the pool. Available in four colours (grey, white, cream and blue),

they are ideal for

over-flow pools. The foamed slats not only provide greater stability but also ensure a perfect finish without the need for end caps and come with a five year guarantee. The pool cover can stay on the water all winter without lowering the water level. The pool cover

meets the stringent French safety standard NF P90-308.

BAYROL’S DR NESTL VISITS THE UK

With Dr Bernd Bayerl enjoying retirement, his replacement Dr Alfons Nestl joined his UK colleagues at BioLab for a couple of days to meet some of the UK customers. Dr Nestl has worked on the research and development team at

BAYROL for nine years with Dr Bayerl inventing products such as the Filtershock Tab which is a patented product.

First stop for Dr Nestl was the Institute of Swimming Pool Engineers meeting in Hemel Hempstead where his role involved presenting to the group BAYROL’S own filter media, Activated FilterGlass. The presentation was informative and was a great opportunity to hear comments and thoughts on the product.

The second day consisted of BAYROL technical training at a hotel

in Oxford for BioLab’s BAYROL dealers and stockists. The presentation covered areas such as the BAYROL five water treatment steps, preparing your pool for Active Oxygen as well as the benefits of changing your filter media to Activated FilterGlass.

Jim Lamb, National Sales Manager, wrapped up the day with a short presentation highlighting the simplicity of the BAYROL product range. The focus was on the multifunctional products such as Multilong and VariTab which are the closest thing to an all in one product.
